Artist Statement:

Connecting to the Bettina L. Love quote, “Loving my Blackness was the first step in my politicization, mattering, and wanting to thrive”, Allure depicts an African American woman in her essence. Big hair. Full lips. Round nose. Her beautiful features are highlighted and prominent. Though her gaze is away from the viewer, one is still drawn in because of the ease and confidence she has in her own skin.
